The Department, in accordance with what was outlined in the "Three-Year Research and Third Mission Development Plan: 2021-2023," confirms in the "Three-Year Strategic Plan for Teaching, Research, and Third Mission/Social Impact DipMeC (2024-2026)" the presence of 13 active multidisciplinary research areas spanning biomedical, preclinical, and clinical fields, and includes the activation of three new areas as previously planned: Integrated "omics" sciences in precision medicine; Innovative tools and new technologies for health protection including the application of Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence; COVID: pandemic management and its consequences.

INFLAMMATION AND IMMUNE SYSTEM RESPONSES

Study of cellular and molecular mechanisms and clinical and epidemiological consequences of inflammation to identify new diagnostic techniques and design innovative immune-therapeutic treatments. ERC sectors: LS-6, LS-1, LS-7.

CARCINOGENESIS AND NEOPLASMS

Study of molecular mechanisms and diagnostic, medical, radiative, and surgical therapeutic techniques in the field of neoplastic diseases. Evaluation of primary and secondary effects of neoplasms and their therapies in preventive, pre-clinical, and clinical models. ERC Sectors: LS-4, LS-1, LS-3

NEUROSCIENCES

Preclinical and clinical studies of physio-pathological mechanisms in neurological, psychiatric, and sensory organ diseases and their therapeutic implications. ERC Sectors: LS5, LS-1, LS-3

PERSONALIZED MEDICINE

Models of personalized medicine for prevention, diagnosis, and therapy of chronic and acute pathologies, particularly through the search for new genetic and non-genetic biomarkers. ERC Sectors: LS-1, LS-7, LS-3

RARE DISEASES

Study of genetic and non-genetic mechanisms underlying the onset of rare diseases in muscular, neurological, metabolic, urological, and hematological fields. ERC Sectors: LS-4, LS-1, LS-3

AGING-RELATED DISORDERS

Evaluation of aging consequences in biological and clinical systems and study of the impact of lifestyle and environmental factors. ERC Sectors: LS4, LS-1, LS-3

Study of alterations in carbohydrate, amino acid, and lipid metabolism, and oxidative stress, in pre-clinical and clinical pathology models. ERC Sectors: LS-4, LS-1, LS-3

HOST/MICROBIOME INTERACTION

Host and microbiome relationship evaluation in phisiological and pathological contexts and in multiple terapeutical responces. Sectors ERC: LS-6, LS-3

INNOVATIVE THERAPIES

Evaluation in preclinical and clinical settings of experimental models and innovative techniques/technologies for diagnosis and medical-surgical treatment of pathologies. ERC Sectors: LS7, LS-1, LS-3

INFECTIOUS PATHOLOGIES

Preclinical and clinica model studies of infectious pathologies (bacterical, viral, fungal and parasitic) on the organism and evauation of tratment response in particular to multi-pharacology resistance. ERC Sectors: LS-6, LS-1, LS-3

HUMAN REPRODUCTION

Study of biological and molecular alterations of human reproduction and development of clinical-therapeutic approaches for infertility treatment. ERC Sectors: LS-3
